The following Rental Terms and Conditions form an integral part of this Van Rental agreement between the hirer and Carry On Campervanning Ltd. The campervan and its equipment remains the property of Carry On Campervanning Ltd at all times. These terms and conditions together with the Carry On Campervanning Ltd Booking Form and the Insurance Motor Rental Agreement (given to the hirer on collection of the campervan) will combine to form the whole rental agreement. There are no other oral undertakings, warranties or agreements between the parties relating to the subject matter of these terms and conditions.

1. Hire Rates
Hire rates quoted include:
• VAT
• Unlimited mileage
• Fully comprehensive insurance for one named driver aged between 25 & 70 with a clean licence.
• V.A.T
• All bedding (pillows, sheets & quilts)
• Basic first aid kit & fire extinguisher
• Gas bottle
• Wind up torch
• Water carrier/container
• Breakdown & Roadside assistance cover
• Complimentary tea, coffee, milk, sugar & biscuits, to start your journey off
• Cooking utensils & dining set
• Full tank of fuel
• Information pack
• Unlimited mileage for mainland U.K & Europe
• TomTom 910 Satnav

2. Insurance
Standard excess

There is a standard excess charge of £1,000. In causing any damage to the vehicle or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the first £1,000. The hirer will be completely liable for replacement or repair to windscreen or tyre damage. Theft, loss or damage to personal effects within or from the vehicle is not covered by our insurance.

Insurance loading
If the driver has a traffic conviction, a non-UK driving licence or an occupation that may be considered high risk by our insurer’s additional charges may be incurred to be passed directly onto the hirer.

The hirer will be liable to pay the full cost of any damage caused by the wilful or negligent actions of the hirer or any of the party.

On collection of the vehicle, the hirer is advised to check the campervan for defects before signing the rental agreement. Carry On Campervanning Ltd should be informed of any noted defects before the rental agreement is signed.

3. Security Deposit
There is a refundable pound sterling security deposit of £500 (which increases to £1000 if you are going to mainland Europe). This is to cover the possibility of negligent damage to the vehicle or the fixtures and fittings or equipment included in the rental and must be paid. This deposit is payable by cash, traveller’s cheque, bankers draft, BACS transfer to our bank account or credit card (via PayPal but this will incur a surcharge, payable by the hirer). Upon return of the vehicle as stated in the rental agreement, with the interior clean (including all cooking appliances); tyres, windscreen, bumpers, roof-lights, mirrors, doors & awning in good condition; and a full tank of unleaded petrol, this deposit is fully refundable.

On collection of the vehicle, the hirer is advised to check the campervan for defects before signing the rental agreement Carry On Campervanning should be informed of any noted defects before the rental agreement is signed.

4. Travel in Europe & Northern Ireland
Our VW camper can be taken outside of mainland UK, but the hirer will incur an additional premium in addition to a weekly surcharge from our insurer. The additional surcharge from our insurer will enable them to issue a green card which is required when you travel outside of the UK, the maximum length of are trip to Europe is 31 days. The hirer will also be liable for any losses (including repatriation costs) when Flo is taken to a prohibited area or country. The maximum length of any stay in Europe is 31 days

5. Driver Qualifications
a) All named drivers must be aged between 25 and 70 years and have held a licence valid in the U.K. for more than two years.

b) A valid driver's licence must be presented by all drivers at the start of the hire period, both photo-card and paper copy will be required.

c) Drivers must also provide two further separate forms of identification e.g. recent utility bill OR bank statement (dated within the last 3 months) & passport, not a mobile phone bill.

d) A maximum of 3 drivers per rental is permissible, any additional premium charged by the insurer in respect of the additional drivers will be passed on to the hirer.

7. Payment
To confirm a booking a ‘non-refundable’ deposit of 30% is payable. A booking is not confirmed until a completed booking form has been received and deposit funds have cleared into our bank account or cash has been received. The booking deposit is non refundable. The full balance is due six weeks (42 days) before the rental start date. Any bookings made less than six weeks before the start date must be paid in full immediately by credit or debit card via paypal.co.uk or bank transfer. Cheques will not be accepted for late bookings. The vehicle will not be released until full payment has been received.

8. Cancellation Charges
More than 6 weeks (42 days) before the rental start date: 30% of total hire charge.

Between 3 weeks (21 days) and up to 6 weeks (42 days) before the rental start date: 50% of total hire charge.

Less than 3 weeks (21 days) before the rental start date: 100% of total hire charge.

9. Collection & Return

a) Collection
Please allow one hour to complete documentation and for the vehicle explanation and demonstration.

b) Return
Again allow one hour for returning the vehicle. The vehicle must be returned at or before the date and time specified on the rental agreement. The vehicle must be returned with the inside clean and in the same condition as it was collected otherwise a charge of £100.00 will be made. We do not want the exterior to be cleaned. No refund is given for an early return of the campervan e.g. accident, weather or theft.

c) Late return
Please advise us immediately if you are late returning. Failure to advise us may result in prosecution for driving uninsured. A charge equivalent to £50 per hour OR a flat fee of £100 (whichever is higher) will be payable for all late returns.

10. Availability
If due to unforeseen circumstances the campervan is unavailable, the liability of Carry On Campervanning Ltd will be limited to the refund of any monies paid by the hirer.
If due to unforeseen circumstances, the campervan is not available for collection at the agreed time, the liability of Carry On Campervanning Ltd will be limited to the refund of the relative proportion of monies paid by the hirer. i.e. if half a day late, half a day’s hire will be refunded.

11. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that the named drivers will not allow the vehicle to:

• Be lent or hired to a third party.
• Carry more than persons (this includes the driver) than there are seats. These persons will all wear the appropriate safety restraints while the vehicle is in motion.
• Be moved to any country not specified to us at the time of booking or any county which is not specified on the insurance document.
• Be driven otherwise than in a normal and cautious way.
• Be driven on any roads that are not sealed or non-metalled, or park or drive on any beach.
• Be used in a manner that would cause damage.
• Be driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the drivers must be fit and capable at all times.
• Be left with the ignition key in when the vehicle is unoccupied and keep the campervan securely locked and alarmed at all times when unattended.
• Be damaged by submersion in water or be damaged by contact with salt water.
• Used to carry volatile liquids or gases (other than the LPG canisters provided with the campervan), explosives or other corrosive or flammable materials.
• To be driven by anyone other than those named in the motor insurance rental agreement and authorized by Carry On Campervanning be used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest.
• Be used to carry passengers or goods for hire or reward.
• Be used to tow any trailer or vehicle.
• Be driven off whilst the pop up roof is still erected.
• Be driven in any prohibited area.

12.The hirer is also responsible for:

• All information (supplied by the hirer to Carry On Campervanning in connection with this agreement) being true.
• Filling the campervan with the correct fuel i.e. unleaded petrol.
• Restricting the campervans movements due to adverse road and weather conditions, or any other reasonable cause.
• The cost of recovery for the campervan if it becomes bogged.
• Ensuring that no one smokes in the campervan.
• Ensuring that no pets or other animals are allowed in the campervan.
• Ensuring that the campervan is not taken through a car wash, or washed using a pressure wash on the paintwork. Damage to the paintwork through ignoring this, will incur all costs from a specialist body-shop to repair the damage being passed on to the hirer in full.
• Regular checking of oil, water and batteries.
• Replacement of LPG cylinder if necessary. The cost of this will be refunded on return of the vehicle. Please keep receipts.
• All costs and fines incurred because of offences against the Road Traffic Acts and / or regulations including congestion charges, speeding and parking fines.
• Reporting to Carry On Campervanning any accident, loss or damage through use of the campervan within 24 hours. The names and addresses of all third parties and witnesses involved and reporting the event to the nearest police station. Not admitting any liability to other parties.
• Assisting Carry On Campervanning in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence.

13. Breakdown

• A breakdown service is provided in the rental agreement. Details are provided when the campervan is collected. The breakdown service includes relay back to the point of hire (or to a garage specified by Carry On Campervanning).
• Costs incurred from breakdown caused by driver error e.g. running out of fuel, wrong type of fuel, locking keys inside the vehicle, losing keys will be charged to the hirer. If you use the incorrect fuel, upon the van being returned to us, you will be liable for additional costs charged by our preferred garage for checking & making any necessary repairs to the campervan resulting from the incorrect fuel being used
• No refund will be given by Carry On Campervanning to the hirer if the breakdown service is unable to repair the vehicle and the breakdown has been caused by driver error.
• If the breakdown service is unable to repair the vehicle, resulting in the termination of your break and the breakdown has not been caused by driver error, Carry On Campervanning will reimburse the cost of the remaining days of the rental agreement in full.
• Carry On Campervanning is not responsible for any expenses or additional costs incurred in hiring alternative vehicles, late arrival, missed ferries, accommodation, travel expenses or any third party claims in connection with a breakdown or accident.
• In the event of a breakdown, contact Carry On Campervanning immediately for advice.
• If you take Flo to mainland Europe, the person named on the European breakdown policy MUST be with the Flo for the entire length of the trip. In the event of a breakdown in Europe, the breakdown company that will come out to you will want to see proof that the named individual on the policy is with the van. If this is NOT the case, ALL costs incurred will be payable by the hirer (regardless of the whose fault the problem is) as this constitutes a breach of not only Carry On Campervanning Ltd’s terms & conditions of hire but also those of the AA (whom we use to provide breakdown services in the UK & Europe)

14. Terminating the agreement

The hirer must acknowledge that Carry On Campervanning Ltd may terminate this agreement and repossess the campervan at any time, without notification of the hirer, and that the hirer will pay the reasonable costs of repossessing the campervan, including towing charges if;
a) the hirer breaches any term of this Agreement.
b) the hirer has obtained the campervan through fraud or misrepresentation.
c) the campervan appears to be abandoned.
d) the campervan is not returned on the agreed return date or Carry On Campervanning Ltd. reasonably believes that the campervan will not be returned on the agreed return date.
e) Carry On Campervanning Ltd considers on reasonable grounds, that the safety of passengers or the condition of the campervan is endangered. In the event of such termination or repossession, the hirer has no right to a refund of any part of the rental charges or the Security Deposit.

15. Claims

• These Terms and Conditions are governed in all respects by the law of Great Britain and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.
• Any changes to these terms and conditions must be in writing and signed on behalf of Carry On Campervanning and the hirer.
